Design Tips | Stay Tuned

Starting with a blank page can be an intimidating way to begin a project. The following design tips are perfect for pairing with this month's "Stay Tuned" Kit, or just tuck them into your back pocket for a time when your creative mojo is low. Either way, we hope they’ll help inspire your next project!

Format Your Text (or Handwriting!)

Lisa formatted the journaling on her spread, Happy Place, to curve around the "just an ordinary day" element on her journaling card. We love the dynamic interest it brings to her text-heavy card!

On her spread, Stay Tuned Documenter - EPam formatted her text for multiple cards to give a unique yet uniform look. The journaling curved around the "yes to this" element, the text arranged to fit in a circle, and the bulleted list all provide fun, eye-catching designs for her page.

Layer Elements

The bold number tag layered behind journaling strips on Lisa's notebook spread, Georgia Aquarium, add to her fun, graphic look.  This subtle layering give a big impact!

Barbara's layered tags are the perfect match for the Halloween photo on her spread, Spooktacular! And the transparent ghost stamped on vellum and layered over her photo adds to her spooky theme!

The layering on Theresa's notebook spread, Happy Place, creates a great place for her black and white photo. And the label on top adds the perfect pop of color!

Stamp a Background or Pattern

Kelly created her own custom background for her spread, Happy Place, by stamping a variety of circles in shades of pink. It's the perfect complement to the patterned paper on the opposite page.

On her spread, Lucky StarHaley stamped the striped dot stamp from the TN Kit stamp set in a multicolor confetti pattern. Her custom background makes a stunning base for her black and white photo.
