We asked Erin Colby (username ecolby) to join us this week to share her take on our sketches. We love how she has so many multi photo layouts in her gallery, and that she's clearly not afraid of color!
First, let's start with our sketches. Our layout sketch is from Kelly Noel :
and our card sketch is from Lisa Spangler :
Erin took on both of our sketches, and used them both for layouts! We love when our members mix it up and use the card sketches for layouts (and vice versa), it just shows how versatile they are.
(Supplies : Studio Calico Hey Day paper, Mister Huey's Color Mist, alpha stickers, cork arrow and chevrons; My Minds Eye enamel dots, label, and washi; Basic Grey flowers; October Afternoon paper, label and button; Bella Blvd. heart)
I immediately loved both sketches and liked the idea that I didn't know what the original creators layout looked liked. It made it fun and I could really make each into my own and not compare. I was drawn to fact on the layout sketch that your eye focuses on the center and that it was horizontal. For the card sketch I knew I wanted to turn it into a layout since I am not a card maker. I had the beach photo sitting for awhile and thought that horizontal aspect of it would go great with layering of other rectangular pieces of paper. I wanted to keep the idea of long and skinny so I matted everything on the 8.5x12 piece of paper and then placed that on the 12x12 card stock.
Now it's your turn! Make a project with using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave us a link to your project by August 5h in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.
