Project Life® meets Layouts

Tags:

If you are like me, you are a hard core Project Life fan who wants to have all Project Life cards that are made by Studio Calico. I receive the Project Life kit and the Project Life add-on kit monthly and use many/most of the cards on my four weekly spreads for the month. BUT, occasionally I have a few left over and I like to find creative ways to add them to my layouts.

(supplies : project life cards - Marks & Co Project Life Kit, Double Scoop Project Life Kit, Steinbeck Kit; cardstock: American Crafts; wood letters & thickers: Marks & Co Scrapbook Kit; charcoal cut out thickers and stars: Double Scoop Scrapbook Kit; stamps: August 4x6 stamp add-on, Double Scoop Card Kit; clothes pins: Bronte Kit; trim: Double Scoop Card Kit; washi: Bubblegum Kit and Bronte Kit; glitter star: Planetarium Card Kit; other: twine and Mister Huey's Calico Cream)

1. Create mini canvases with the 3x4 project life cards

On this layout, I used six 3x4 project life cards as little mini canvases for my photos. I printed my photos to be slightly smaller than the card size so parts of the card would still be shown. I then added kit embellishments to the cards to decorate them.

2. Cut items out of the cards

I also cut items out of the cards to use on my mini canvases. I cut out the “you are here”, the “I love you” arrow, the large floral hearth, and the little white flowers. The hearts along the top are also cut from a 4x6 card (my favorite project life card ever!).

3. Cut cards apart and layer them

For the card on the bottom right, I cut the bottom off of the “love you” card and placed it over the pink card. The cards look really cute layered over each other. I often use this technique in my project life as well.

It’s hard to want to use the Studio Calico project life cards as I really enjoy just collecting them and looking at them over and over! But if you really want to put them to good use, try some of these techniques I’ve listed to get the most out of your stash!
