This week, Elena (SC username Elena) is joining us with her take on our sketches. Her light, airy layouts and knack for clustering embellishments perfectly convinced me she'd be perfect for this assignment!!
Here's a look at this week's sketches - our layout sketch comes from Robyn Werlich's gallery:
And the card sketch is from April Foster's gallery:
Elena opted to use the layout sketch and we love all of the detail!!
Supplies: Patterned paper from Studio Calico's Memoir, Autumn press and Heyday collections; Studio Calico Feathers wood veneer shapes; Studio Calico July printables by Hello Forever; Studio Calico Sundrifter die cut stickers and die cut shapes; Studio Calico Take note badge
I liked the sketch very much so I didn't do any major changes.I tried to keep things simple because I like to keep the eye focused on the photo.I love clustering so I used all kinds of embellishments on the speech bubble instead of journaling.I replaced the stripes below the photo, with a tiny banner. And finally I used mist splatters and some stickers to warm the white space.
Elena's attention to detail draws me right into that sweet photo, and her layering techniques are subtle yet perfect!! Thanks so much for joining us this week, Elena!! If you'd like to see more of her work, please check her SC gallery or her blog.
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave us a link to your project by October 28th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.
