30 days of Thankful | Geralyn Sy & Amanda Caves

Cathy Zielske has set aside November for her Thirty Days of Thankful project, and we've asked some of our Creative Team members to share their take on the project. Geralyn Sy and Amanda Caves have both put their personal spin on this project - Geralyn has put together a 4x4in mini, and Amanda made a pocket page that will fit in her Project Life® album.

Geralyn Sy : For my 30 Days of Thankful mini, I decided to go with a simple approach by creating a 4x4 book (the inner pages are a bit smaller) that would be bound with binder rings.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out my cover page, which has the word 'thankful' repeating down the front. I backed the negative with some neutral ledger paper, but used patterned papers from the SC Cuppa kits for one of the 'thankful' words so that it would stand out.

I wanted the inner pages to follow a regular format so that it would be easy to fill this mini. Each day has one mini-book spread, with a photo on the left side and journaling on the right side.

To keep my journaling private, I stapled a piece of vellum on top of my writing and added a few embellishments and the number of the day. It's also another way to incorporate more fun embellishing in my mini.

Here's my Day 2. The embellishments I'm using are primarily from the SC Cuppa kits, and the sequins are from the shop.

The rest of my pages will follow this same format. I'm glad to be doing this project because it has made me more conscious and aware of things in my life that I'm thankful for! Hope you enjoyed this peek into my mini.

Supplies: Cuppa Kits & Add-ons; Gold Star Sequins; Silhouette Cameo; Versafine Black Ink

Amanda Caves : I find that all too often in the chaos of everyday life, I forget to be thankful for all that I have been given. I love that the fall season and holidays provides a gentle reminder to be thankful and take nothing for granted. I chose to put together a layout that I could slip into my Project Life album which showcases my thankfulness. I used wood veneer pieces to symbolize certain blessings in my life, and I also chose to write some words on a journal card that I slipped into a glassine envelope.

supplies: Studio Calico Cuppa Project Life Kit; Studio Calico grid cards; Studio Calico veneer ampersand card, stars, people, geotag, arrows, and camera; Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink pad, American Crafts glitter tape, Studio Calico gold alphas, Studio Calico gold doilies, Mister Huey's Color Mist in gold

I'm a sucker for mini albums so especially loved Geralyn's thankful album and her use of vellum for privacy. Amanda's PL format is also lovely and I really liked the neutral palate. I like the idea of a thankful album--it could be done anytime.

These are both great! I love the idea of the vellum keeping the journaling private whilst also becoming a place to add more embellishments!
And all that gold in the PL spread? Perfect!!
