Tutorial: Using the Arendal Scrapbook Kit with Anna-Maria Wolniak

Hi and hello for the first time in 2016! I am honoured to be a part of the Studio Calico creative team again (yay!). Today is my turn to inspire you using January 'Arendal' scrapbook kit, so here we go...

These are the supplies which I chose from the 'Arendal' scrapbook kit and add-ons. I gathered them together on my table, added two tones of red threads, a needle and scissors.

At the beginning of my work, I thought that I would be inspired by the lovely origami stamps from the add-on and I saw a geometric diamond on my layout, but when I looked at the picture of me and my beloved son I thought about a heart shape, so I decided to stick with this idea. I remembered that one day I saw a beautiful embroidered heart on Pinterest and that I pinned it on my inspiration board. I found this picture and decided this is a good time to finally use it in a project. So at the first step I organized some basics in a simple, centre composition and I sketched a heart shape on a background using a pencil.

Next, I stamped a frame using a black ink. I knew that I wanted to use this stamp as a part of the composition and I knew that it would be hard to stamp it after the embroidered heart will be ready.

Now it was a time for meticulous sewing work (which took me too much time to write about it right now...) but, the effect satisfied me.

When the heart was ready, I started to glue the various layers of my composition. I stuck on giant letters which became the title of my project. Next, I stuck the photos with a piece of cardboard from the main kit. I added a gold clip as well.

I made another layer under the photo using two colours of amazing crepe fringe from the embellishment kit. I also cut a printable tag designed by Marcy Penner...

Finally, I didn't make an embroidered diamond inspired by the origami stamps but I had to use them, right?! I stampped few elements on a cardstock using red and black ink pads.

I cut one of the origami birds and created an embellishment on a gold clip at the picture and other tiny bites here and there on a layout.

Under the picture I stuck a piece of vellum and I used one of the gold rub-ons and white puffy asterisks on a right side.

As an almost final touch, I stamped an origami butterfly using the red inkpad...

...and (as a final touch) a few, random splatters made with a black mini mist. Finished!

I hope you feel inspired. Sending you lots of hugs and kisses, guys!
xoxo
Anna-Maria
