This week, Katharina (SC username KatharinaFrei) is joining us with her take on our sketches. Her work making cards first caught my eye, but I also love her layouts & mini albums as well! I've been excited to ask her to join us this week :)
Here's a look at this week's sketches - our layout sketch comes from Ania Maria Wolniaks' gallery:
And the card layout is based on a project from Stephanie Washburn's gallery:
Katharina was kind enough to make 2 projects...one for each sketch!

Supply List: Studio Calico Sundrifterdie cuts, Veneer Circles/hearts/stars, Mistable feathers, Hexagon Mask, Mister Huey Seafoam/Gold/White
For the layout, I was inspired instantly. My goal was to use lots of repeating shapes, made of different materials (feathers, triangles, circles, hearts, stars). My journaling is hidden below the photo in a small paperbag.
While making the card, I wanted to create lots of dimension on the background of my card. Therefore I used Claudine Hellmuth's medium-matte with SC's hexagon masks. To color in the matte, I used Mister Huey's seafoam mist, sprayed the matte with it and mixed it. The background had to dry for several hours before I could adhere the die-cuts, but it was definitely worth the wait.
We love all of the repetitive elements that bring these projects to gether, as well as the mixed media feel each has. Thanks so much for joining us this week, Katharina!! If you'd like to see more of her work, please check her SC gallery or her blog.
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by November 25th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.
