Our Layout of the Week, Oh The Joys of Summer, comes from our member Margereta (username paperpilekitten). Our community loved her creative use of twine to make her title for this stunning layout To keep up with Margereta and see more of her work, be sure to follow her here at SC and her blog!
Here's what Margareta has to say about her layout:
I have been heavily addicted to the rainbow trend this year. Color is my 'thing', so getting the chance to use ALL the colors on the same page is something I find truly exciting. lol!
Making words and shapes from twine is not as hard as it seems. I simply grabbed my bottle of Glossy Accents (any fine tipped bottle of glue is good) and wrote/traced the words and shapes onto the cardstock background, using the glue bottle as I would use any pen or marker. Then, I gently pressed down the baker's twine in that trail of glue. I added the photos and sprinkled enamel dots (Color Theory) over my project.
My scrapbook pages generally have very sparse journaling on them, which is odd, as writing is my profession, but I no longer seem to have the patience for lengthy handwritten stories. Instead, I added a few select words that hold the essence of summer for me, just as the objects in these photos do, and made them a part of the page design by writing them with colored markers along the trails of twine.
I am so honored and thrilled that my design has been picked as the LOTW. It always warms my heart when my work can inspire others. Thank you all so much!
