Video | Mixing it up in Your Project Life® Album with Stephanie Bryan
I have been a long time fan of Project Life®! For the past four years, I've completed a traditional 12x12 album of our families memories. This year, I really wanted to switch things up a little and approach Project Life® from a different perspective.
I used the last few months of 2014 to really focus on what I wanted to include in my albums and finally came up with the perfect solution for me: monthly Project Life® albums. I really wanted to explore various page sizes and album sizes, so changing up my album each month gives me lots of room for creativity and exploration!!
I also really have a desire to "add" more into my albums....more memories, more stories, more photos, more memorabilia, more artwork. Having a little flexibility with these albums has opened up so many new possibilities for my memory keeping and I'm so excited to share those with you today!!
This quick little video gives you an overview of the first two weeks of January. In this video, I'll walk you through my album and give you a little insight into why I selected this system for me and how I hope to see it progress during this year!! I hope you enjoy it and let me know what you think!!
Supply List: Far Far Away Project Life® kit; Far Far Away Scrapbook kit; Magic Carpet; Alyra Stamp Set; Far Far Away Scrapbook kit stamps; Far Far Away Printable by Hello Forever; Far Far Away Cut Files by Hello Forever; 6x8" Page Protector #4; 6x8" Page Protector #3

I love the direction you're going here. I've also been heading this way. I do PL monthly in the handbook and have added odd sizes and a few mixed media pages in the past. But I want to get even more of my pages outside of the plastic and make the book more interactive. And rather than try and document every single thing with a photo, my goal is to capture a "feeling" for the month. Thanks for the great ideas! I'm looking forward to your February book.

Love all your great ideas! How do you finish the end of your binder when you cut it off?

Can I just tell you that I think I love you? It's as if you know my brain! I keep ALL the same things you do and have always struggled with how to implement them. I take a million photos and always have to leave some out. I get really OCD about my layouts and wanting it all to make sense together. I feel like you have just created the solution to all my problems!!! Thank you for creating this, sharing this and inspiring me! I am going to try it out and see if it works better for me. I wish I could hug you right now.
Sorry for being a weirdo.

I've been struggling to figure out how to get alllll the bajillion photos that I take, memorabilia that I hoard, & art work that I keep into my album this year. In a more timely manner. I love my 12x12 spreads (PL & scrapbooking) but with two kids now and not a whole lot of extra time I just don't have 2 hours to use on one spread. THIS IS GENIUS!!!! Of course it's totally coming from your brain, the queen of awesome mini albums! :) I've already done a few PL layouts for this month, so maybe I'll revamp my plan to include one PL layout a month in my "big" album and then a little mini album for each month like you're doing. I have the perfect 8.5x11 old StampinUp post scrap album to cut apart! CAN'T WAIT! You always inspire my brain Steph, Thanks :)

ThankYou for sharing this Stephanie. I have admired your style for a while now and just love it when you share your how to's !
This is a perfect solution for me . I started out my scrapbooking adventure by making minibooks and I have quite an extensive stash packed away.
During my "mini book days" I had two (and still do ) designers that I bought and (eeek) hoarded their lines.
You have just given me the freedom to use both my PL (which I love ) and the chance to get even more creative with my pictures by using the photos that won't fit into my P L layouts. My discard pile of photos keeps getting higher !
I'm excited now to dig out those treasured papers and embellishments and bond once again with my designer friends !

I love all your ideas in this. Gave me another aha! moment, realizing I can do this whenever I want...I don't have to stick to daily or weekly...just do it when I have time. And also to just go with what I have, and create my pages anyway I want. They don't have to be certain sizes all the time. Thanks!

Stephanie! Honestly you are so incredibly talented! Seriously. Thank you so much for sharing this. This is how I do my PL too. I mix in different sizes and inserts and things and I sometimes feel like an odd duck since others are more traditional. It was so encouraging to see how you are using your January album. If someone as awesome as you can mix up your pages and go a little bit more untraditional than so can I. And I seriously have trouble pairing down photos too. I love that you spoke about wanting to include more photos and more things like pictures. This so pretty.
My favourite part by far is the vellum! I love how you printed the photo on vellum and layered it in there. It looks so nice and airy and just well beautiful. I love that photo of the two kiddos where you can see the journaling underneath - I mean wow. wow. wow. I mean wow!
Also, what a cool idea to use a binder from target (?) and cut it off and add jump rings. I've often seen binders that I love so much and wish they were albums but never thought of doing something like that. What a cool idea. Now I can find any binder I love and make it into an album - can I say genius! So going to scraplift that. Did you use a cropadile to punch the holes?

Oh also, I'm a hoarder too. I hoard menus and recipes and all those lovely things all the time. I've completely stollen menus and my friends and family look at me like what are you doing.
Um...scrapbooking life.
Hoarders unite!

I am very inspired!! I collect all sorts of things and they just get put in a box. I am going to take this an inspiration and add more memorbilia and not focus on all the same pages for my 2015 9x12. Love it! Thanks for sharing!
