Odyssey Tutorial - Add Stitching to a Card | Jenn Picard

Today I am going to show you how this card came together!

When I first sit down to create a card, I gather my supplies and pull out some patterned papers that I think may work for what I am doing.

Next I cut down the paper to size and play around with positioning. For this card I decided I wanted to layer the papers on an angle. This is a fun and easy way to create some visual interest.

I attached the + symbol paper then flipped the card over and trimmed of the corners.

Then I took the strip and using my sewing machine I stitched two very simple straight lines.

Here you can see those stitches and how they just add some great extra texture and detail.

For the main image panel I used a piece of white card stock and stamped the sentiment and image. For the frog I used Yes Peas Color Theory Ink for the outline and Lime Light for the body. Using a 2 step stamp with similar colors helps to add contrast and depth to the image without the outline looking too over pronounced. I also inked the water image with Clear Blue but I wanted the color to be a little softer so I stamped once on a piece of scrap paper before I stamped it on the card stock.

I love it when the Card Kits come with letter stickers as it gives you the option to create any type of sentiment you want. I wanted to show the versatility of the stamp set and that particular phrase, so I included a sentiment that I created on the inside of the card to make it a congratulatory type of card.

Supplies used: Odyssey Card Kit, Color Theory Inks: Yes Peas, Lime Light, Clear Blue, Inky Black, This to That Dot Glue Runner, This to That Foam Tab Squares.
Other: sewing machine, white thread.
