Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Paige Evans

Paige is mom to Fox and Jane, and wife of nearly nine years to Chris, living for another year-and-a-half on a USA Army base that they've called home for the last two-and-a-half years. Paige loves scrapbooking, bookbinding, teaching and traveling all over Europe! She recently released her first scrapbooking collection with Pink Paislee called Fancy Free, which will be available in March!

Favorite things about Arendal

I love the purple - I have so many pictures that need to be scrapped with purple in them so I'm excited to use the Arendal kits to finally get those memories recorded! The large cream chipboard letters - so many possibilities! I like to use them as templates and trace onto patterned papers, you could paint them, use them as is... so fun! All the patterned paper go together so well! Thank you to kits for putting things together instead of me trying to figure it all out by myself!

About the lessons

In the first lesson, we'll focus on how to make a layout in only a few minutes with the "grid technique" and being inspired by kit contents. The second lesson, we'll focus on the origami stamp set and the PixScan feature in Silhouette Studio. In the third lesson, I feature the flower background cut file I designed and how to back it quickly using a Silhouette Cameo.

Main points that subscribers will take away

Not all layouts have to take hours to create! Technology can be your best friend - one click of a button can save you precious time! White space is an important element to remember when using a lot of repetition.

Documenter Kit Workshop - Marcy Penner

Marcy is a self-proclaimed “simple girl,” living in the country with her high school sweetheart and their three kids. On any given day, you can find her decorating her farmhouse, planning her next farm project (hello chickens), homeschooling two of her three kiddos, putting together her dream planner or designing products for Studio Calico. She's a believer in writing things down and documenting every moment - no matter how mundane it may seem.

Favorite things about Arendal

I think my favourite thing about the Arendal kits would have to be the colour scheme. I don't use a lot of colour… so I think that when I do I'm very aware of how they go together and how they "feel." The January colour scheme with a pop of black totally works!

About the lessons

In the first lesson, we'll be putting together a typical spread while being conscious of balance and weight. In the second, we'll focus on creating a themed spread and even play around with an interactive element. In the last lesson, we'll use the white space in our photos to house both journaling and embellishments.

Main points that subscribers will take away

I think that above all else I want subscribers to walk away with a realization that this project can be simple and well-designed. That it doesn't have to been complex and time consuming. By focusing on words and stories… and by choosing embellishments intentionally… you can end up with a meaningful album.

Does this do away with the Sunday sketches on the blog?
