Sunday Sketch | Carson Riutta

This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout featuring repeated stamping filled with small patterned paper squares and stitching. Our card sketch includes layered patterned papers and a stamped focal point and sentiment, and our pocket page sketch has two square photos mounted on 3" x 4" pocket cards with journaling and a title. Creative Team member Carson Riutta is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Carson here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Lisa Truesdell's One Last Time layout:

Our card sketch comes from Natalie Elphinstone's Till We Meet Again card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Marie Lottermoser's Top 9 Things to Do in Ireland spread:

And here's Carson's take on our scrapbook sketch:

Of the three sketches this week, I was immediately drawn to Lisa’s scrapbook layout and the way in which she used the outline tag stamp as a container for all sorts of different bits and pieces from the kit. I was also intrigued by the way she left some white space on the page in a very organic way. I tried to recreate the look on a much smaller canvas using the circle outline from December's fabulous Story Builder Stamp Kit.

After stamping the circles uniformly across the card, I positioned the glitter chipboard sentiment and then had way too much fun finding and positioning all the bits and pieces from across the three kits. I stopped short of adding the stitching as Lisa did as I thought that, on a much smaller canvas, it might be too much texture. I’m probably wrong ;)

I’m so pleased with how fun and festive this card turned out to be, and I can’t wait to see what you create based on this week’s sketches! Happy crafting, friends!

Supplies: Kits – Cypress Grove Scrapbook Kit, Juniper Add-On Kit, Redwood Add-On Kit; Stamps - Story Builder Stamp Kit, 4X6 Word Search Valentine Stamp; Ink – Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black)
