March 2017 Member Spotlight

Hi there everyone! My name is Christie Sierra and I am a native Floridian. I currently work part time jobs that all serve different purposes in my life. I am an office manager for a pest control business; this is what pays my bills and *ahem* hobbies. I also work for an incredible non-profit organization called Exchange for Change, which brings writing programs into correctional institutions to educate and empower prisoners; this is what helps me be involved in the community in a tangible and real way. Lastly, I am a Premier Designs jewelry lady; this is what lets me serve women and have fun, who doesn't love jewelry! I enjoy reading and working out as well.

Member Since:

I have been a member since 2008, but took a hiatus for awhile to focus on getting healthy, changing my life, and adjusting to divorce and relocation. I joined back when there were two women running this business, Scarlett and April! I have grown as a scrapbooker by being challenged with kit elements and the plethora of ideas that overflow out of the member and creative team galleries.

Favorite Aspect of SC:

I just love this community of people. The encouragement, love, and support that pour of the women here is so unique. I love that the creative team is involved in the community and encourages participation on the boards and in the gallery. I also enjoy the customer service and how timely the emails and conversations are answered, with problem solving being supreme. But, I really love the stamps that SC creates for us. The kits are always put together beautifully as well, with amazing and inspiring products. I just admire MandieLouJennrn, and Gluestickgirl! Their work always pushes and challenges me to create in new ways!

Must-Have Product:

The color theory inks are a must have for any SC member. They stamp a nice crisp image with all the SC stamps and they coordinate with every kit! I have the entire collection and it was the best investment that I have made. Oh, I can't stop at just one, LOL. I also think that a great staple are the Color Theory alphabet stickers. The font is perfect for any size project and that gray is to die for.

Project Fav:

Well, I decided to tackle one little word this year. My word is "chase" because 2017 is the year that I tackle all the of the things that I was always too afraid to do. I decided to document life as it was; both the highs and lows. So, when January rolled around, I was super excited to dive in. That lasted about a day! I underwent a foot injury and that rolled into a severe upper respiratory infection. I have struggled all of my life with depression and these setbacks, along with some family struggles, pushed me back into it's grip. I decided to document January as I experienced, mess that it was. And this has turned out to be so therapeutic and so freeing!

Project Bucket List:

I would have to say visiting Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park are on my bucket list. I would love to tour the national parks and create a mini with all the photos. Can you imagine how amazing that would be? From the Sequoias to the sandy dunes...*sigh* I think we get so caught up in our everyday lives that we miss the simple beauty and the pristine views that our country has to offer. There are so many things right here in the US that I want to experience before I could even start to list the global ones! My goal for 2017 is to complete the albums that I start - One Little Word, Project Life (monthly), Week in the Life, and December Daily.

What Now?

I am working on updating my Project Life album with February's happenings, which included a great birthday! I did a pretty cool spread using the birthday cards that I received, so I can't wait to share that with everyone. Currently I am packing for a weekend scrapbook retreat where I plan to work on a mini album, using the Mini Album Workshop kit and class by Jennrn. We took a trip to Chicago right when the Cubs were playing in the World Series, so we were able to experience Chicago in all of it's glory! I even went out on the ledge at the Willis Tower, which I would have never done prior to this new stage in my life. I can't wait to document that whole experience!

Shout Out!

There are too many people who make my experience here so wonderful! I mentioned the above designers and I just love how they continue to inspire me and amaze me with their innovative ideas. SarahKH is so attentive and helps make my shopping experience great - always fixing mistakes and clarifying silly questions that I have.
I am so thankful to be spotlighted. I hope that I see you more on the boards!
