Sunday Sketch | Carson Riutta

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a large centered title, a cluster of elements in the upper right-hand corner, and sentiment throughout. Our card sketch has stamped images across the middle with embellishments. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" collage photo card and 3" x 4" title card with journaling. Creative Team member Carson Riutta is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's card sketch! Be sure to follow Carson here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Anna-Maria Wolniak's layout Baguettes [Add-on Only Project]:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's You're a Good Egg card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Nancy Damiano's Spring Zoo spread:

And here's Caron's take on our scrapbook sketch:

Hello and happy Sunday, friends! I had a hard time choosing which sketch to use this week. I ultimately chose Lisa’s sweet card sketch simply because I wanted to use all those fabulous star themed stamps from this month’s offerings.

I absolutely love that the SC team created two wonderful and coordinated stamp sets on the same starry theme this month. I think we all love to have more choice when it comes to our stamped images and sentiments, and when you combine the April stamp subscription with the Lucky Star stamp set, the possibilities seem infinite!

Unlike Lisa, who is a master of white space, I tend to get anxious when there is more than a square inch of white peeking out from a project, so I decided to make a starry sky pattern on my card base. I then added a scrap of patterned paper from the 4x6 Paper Pad to the bottom third or less of the card to ground my design. Once I had my sentiments laid out, I simply tied a sweet bow around the card and called it done.

These cards were so quick and so satisfying to put together. Card making doesn’t always have to be innovativesweet and simple can be just as effective. Have fun creating your own inspired designs this week. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the  Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by April 24th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the April 29th Layout of the Week post.

I made this layout based on the SB sketch. I decided to use a big photo to highlight the beautiful scenery and matted them and then placed my big title on the bottom. I used the long journaling portion like in the sketch but decided to place it on the left of the photos where I would have more room to journal my story. https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/202013-beautiful-beyond-your-dreams
