Sunday Sketch | Maggie Massey
This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a grid background anchored by a photo and large title at the bottom of the page. Our card sketch has a simple design with a centrally stamped icon and title. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" photo card with minimal embellishment and a 3" x 4" filler card with sentiment. Creative Team member Maggie Massey is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Maggie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Jen Chapin's You Are So Silly layout:
Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Happy Birthday card:
And our pocket page sketch comes from Pam Baldwin's Right Now:
And here's Maggie's take on our scrapbook sketch:
Jen's layout caught my eye IMMEDIATELY! It's so bright and colorful and fun! And it was the perfect jumping-off point for my layout. I did decide the shake things up just a bit, though. I changed the size of the page (making mine 9" x 12" instead of 12" x 12") and I also changed the photo placement (adding mine to the top of my page rather the bottom).
Instead of using the beautiful, bold colors Jen used, I stuck with blacks and whites for my patterned paper "banners."
And I decided to hand-cut my title from some of my favorite paper in the Been and Gone Main Scrapbook Kit.
I just love how easily this page came together. Thanks so much for taking a look!
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by June 19th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the June 24th Layout of the Week post.
I took the scrapbook sketch and turned it 180 degrees so that the half circles resembled waves to go with my photo. Inspired by Maggie, I also did a hand cut title. https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/204022-endless-summer-sunday-sketch
