Sunday Sketch | Carson Riutta

This week our scrapbook sketch is an 8.5" x 11" layout featuring rectangular elements lined up down the center of the page, with a photo in the bottom half. Our card sketch has central element layered over strips with a title in the upper left-hand corner. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" title card with embellishment and a 3" x 4" photo card. Creative Team member Carson Riutta is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's card sketch! Be sure to follow Carson here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Maggie Massey's Kinsley & Jorie layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Congrats on Your New Job card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Juli Maniago's Yum | PL 2017 spread:

And here's Carson's take on our card sketch:

I chose to work with Lisa’s awesome card sketch as I love how simple and striking her cards always are! I knew I wanted to feature that “Light it Up” die-cut from the Summer Camp Kit, and Lisa’s layout was the perfect match.

I used the star pattern building stamp from the Doodles add-on stamp set to begin the layered stripe behind the die-cut. I then layered a few matching patterned papers and some colorful ribbon and twine to make the card pop! The sentiment stamps from the Doodles stamp set went beautifully with the die-cut phrase and I simply finished the card off with a few of the puffy asterisks in coordinating colors. This was a fun and easy card to put together and I can’t wait to send it to a good friend!

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by August 7th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the August 12th Layout of the Week post.

I made this layout based on the SB sketch. I flipped the sketch 180 degrees and added the enamel dots in the bottom row to fill in that rectangular section and added circles on the sides of my photo.
