Using the Starlight Scrapbook Kit with Kelly Noel

Hello, SC friends! It's reveal day, and while you're getting your first glimpse at the "Starlight" Kits, mine have been strewn all over my desk for the last few weeks. I have mad love for this month's Scrapbook Kit. I can't tell you how quickly my layouts came together this month, and I'm still using it! I love the bright, bold colors—they work for all kinds of subjects. And the little buttons and stickers are all so perfect!

When I created this layout, I had already used up quite a bit of my kit. I couldn't resist using all of the transparency shapes on one layout, so I had mostly just scraps of patterned paper leftover. I knew this would be a pattern heavy layout, so I started with a plain white background, making sure to include plenty of white space to give the eye a place to rest. The patterns in this kit are all so graphic and fun, so I cut several of the papers into hexagons and lined them up randomly on the top portion of the page.

I had these cute photos of my littlest, Sawyer, eating ice cream against a fun pink wall from when we were vacation and knew they would be a perfect match for the colors in this kit. I resized each photo to 2" x 3" and placed them next to each other leaving a small space between them. I cut the photos out leaving a white border around the edge. This helps the photo stand out from the rest of the page. I adhered the photo using foam adhesive to make the photo stand out even more.

Once I had the basic design of the top portion of the page done, I decided there was too much white space and wanted to add something fun to the bottom of the layout, too. To tie in all of the colors going on with the hexagons, I simply cut strips from the same patterned papers and lined them up along the bottom. A few stickers, buttons, asterisks (all from the main Scrapbook Kit) and the "fave" acrylic word from the Lyra Add-on Kit finished off the page.

Thanks for dropping by! I hope you love the "Starlight" Kit as much as I do—I can't wait to see what you make with your kits!
