Sunday Sketch | Maggie Massey

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring layered papers under a 4" x 6" photo with embellishments running across the middle of the page and journaling underneath. Our card sketch has several centered icons and simple sentiment. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" journaling card with circular embellishments and a 3" x 4" photo card with a title along the right-hand side. Creative Team member Maggie Massey is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Maggie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Nancy Damiano's Grateful layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Miss You card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Nancy Damiano's Boardwalk spread:

And here's Maggie's take on our scrapbook sketch:

Hey hey, everyone! Maggie here with a look at a page I created using the sketch based off of Nancy Damiano's layout, Grateful. Nancy is one of my very favorite designers; I'm always inspired by her work. I love how she broke up her page with the two different colored papers, and then how she made them cohesive with the addition of the die-cut leaves (a kit favorite, for sure).

I stayed pretty true to the original sketch by adding some patterned paper to a sheet of white cardstock and using the die-cut houses from the main Scrapbook Kit along the separation line between the two papers. A single photo of my front porch, all decorated for fall, works nicely with the "home" theme from this month—and it's a great way to help me remember this season. Don't forget to take and scrap photos of your home, especially when it's all decorated!

A few little stamped sentiments from the Stamp Subscription and this page is done! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! I can't wait to see what you create!

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by November 13th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the November 18th Layout of the Week post.

I made a birthday card. I thought of balloons when I saw the sketch, but I didn't even know I had a balloon die! It had never been used.

I love Nancy's layouts, they always inspire me. I modified her SB sketch so I could incorporate a scrap piece of paper I was using to practice some ink blending.

I was inspired by the pocket page sketch, but instead of two3x4 cards I made them into one 6x4 card which I used for my weekly title card.

I was so inspired by the scrapbook sketch I just hade to make a layout. I've used some old papers I found in my stash, they are not from Studio Calico but I hope it's ok to show the layout anyway. If not, I do apologize!

Quick and Simple version of the scrapbook sketch. I shrunk it down to fit my current size of 8.5x11. I love those rubber stars from Lollipop Guild. I am glad I bought several sets.
