Sunday Sketch | Candace Perkins

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring an angular design with patterned paper, a horizontal photo in the middle of the page surrounded by embellishments, and journaling in the lower right-hand corner. Our notebook sketch has one large verticle photo on the right page with a title below it and various tags and cards with journaling and sentiment on the left page. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" title card with heavy journaling and a 3" x 4" photo card with a vertical strip of journaling adhered with stitching on the right side. Creative Team member Candace Perkins is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's documenter sketch! Be sure to follow Candace here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Nathalie DeSousa's Blessed Adventures layout:

Our notebook sketch comes from Marie Lottermoser's Adventure TN spread:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Pam Baldwin's Summit Documenter Main Kit - Woo Hoo spread:

And here's Candace's take on our notebook sketch:

Hello again, friends! Candace here with you to share how I used the Documenter sketch to put together an insert for my Week 3, 2018.

I loved the idea of adding additional journaling to the spread by attaching it to the side of photos. I took that same idea from the sketch an added my journaling to a 4" x 6" piece of cardstock in Photoshop.

Next, I trimmed off the excess cardstock and adhered my journaling to two of the 4" x 6" photos on my spread. To balance the spread, I added the journaling on opposite edges of the page.

I loved being inspired by other designers' work! I never thought of adding journaling to a spread like this and now I have another go-to technique in my pocket to complete my spreads faster and include more of our family’s memories and stories!

How will you be inspired to use the sketch and document your special times?

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by March 5th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the March 10th Layout of the Week post.
