February 2018 Member Spotlight

Hi, I'm Theresa Moxley, living in Kernersville, NC with my husband who is my best friend, and our four kids. We are a loud, noisy, hyperactive blended family but it gives me lots to photograph and document in our family albums. We also are home for two cats, a spastic dog, and a bunny. I started scrapbooking in 2003 when I was pregnant with my son and went from a little cart in the dining room to a spilling-over studio really fast! I also like to crochet and cook and have date days with my husband.

Member Since:

My profile says I joined in 2013, but I've been a customer for like ever! I've always loved SC's wood veneer and sprays! The inspiration here is absolutely unmatched. I've found so many of my favorite memory keepers through the galleries here and all of that inspiration and encouragement has helped me grow as an artist and memory keeper. I know that so many others experience that community as well, and that is really awesome!

Must-Have Product:

I am on a roller date stamp kick right now! I must have them all! I keep them on my worktop and they are so easy to grab while I'm creating because I don't have to look through allllllll the stamps and get them out of the packaging, they're just right there!

Here at SC, we're all about inspiration! What is one quote that inspires you most?

I think being creative is one of the most brave things we can do as humans, and every layout I create and share is brave for me. This quote from Reese Witherspoon is giving me life this year:

"What would happen if we were all brave enough to believe in our own ability? To be a little bit more ambitious? I think the world would change."

So here's to being brave, and changing the world we live in.

Life is busy. When do you find time to create?

Well, first off, I have four kids who know how to wash dishes and do their own laundry, so that definitely helps! I also have an incredibly supportive husband (and a therapist) who encourage me to be in my studio as often as possible. I am so thankful to have people around me who appreciate our albums and love the stories they tell. I often say that being creative is as important as brushing your teeth, so do it every day! If I miss a day in my studio I get a little anxious!

Three simple things that make you happy:

  • Puffy stickers
  • Chocolate
  • The butterflies you get when you just finished the BEST layout ever and everything came together

The Scrap Struggle..

I ask people this question all the time so it's fun to be asked as well! My scrap-struggle quite seriously is cutting into 12x12 paper!!!!! It's probably why I do so much Project Life because you don't have to cut up the paper. I think I am so drawn to color and pattern and have been known to just slide a whole sheet of patterned paper into my page protectors just because!

Shout-Out!

I am so thankful to the community here at Studio Calico! There have been lots of places come and gone over the years but SC has been here all along and has given the best to our industry. So to all of you at SC, thank you, you ROCK!
