Sunday Sketch | Marie Lottermoser

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a grid of hexagons as the background for two square photos with star-shaped embellishments on the right side of the page. Our notebook sketch has two photos on the bottom of the left page with a row of stitched elements above them and a simple title on the right page. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" photo and a 3" x 4" journaling card with bulleted lines of text separated using circular markers. Creative Team member Marie Lottermoser is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's pocket page sketch! Be sure to follow Marie to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Kelly Noel's Five *On My Way Collection* layout:

Our notebook sketch comes from Marcy Penner's Read // On My Way spread:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Natalie Elphinestone's The Story of Today spread:

And here's Marie's take on our pocket page sketch:

Hi, everyone! I’m excited to be sharing my take of the Documenter sketch this week. I decided to use the design for a page in my Traveler’s Notebook. I loved the idea of having a full-size photo on one side and a list on the other. I also liked the use of enamel dots, so I decided to incorporate those as well.

I started by printing a full-size photo of some flowers my mom sent me. For my Traveler’s Notebook, I print photos 4.25" x 8.25”. If the photo is a little big, I just trim it once I adhere it to the page. It’s easier to cut the extra off than add to it if it’s too small.

I wanted to list out the meaning of the different flowers in the bouquet. I used one of the 3" x 4" cards that came with the "Hey Girl" Documenter Kit, which was already numbered. To make it really stand out, I added some of the arrow stickers from the kit. Finally, I scattered some enamel hearts and dots across the top of the page.

I really enjoyed working with this sketch and coming up with a list. I hope you have fun creating your own take on this week’s sketches!

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by May 28th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the June 2nd Layout of the Week post.

Those aren't hexagons...they are diamonds! (Otherwise known as a Rhombus).

I've had Kelly's "Five" layout in my Inspiration folder for weeks. Glad to finally get to it. I stayed pretty true to her grid of diamonds, adding some in from my stash and scraps: https://studiocalico.com/galleries/212151-big-sister
