Sunday Sketch | Maggie Massey

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a wide strip of patterned paper on the top half of the page with circular embellishments, a horizontal photo on the right side of the page over journaling strips, and a large title on the left half. Our notebook sketch has a large verticle photo over stamping on the left page and journaling over a large number on the right page. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" photo with a tag stapled in the top right corner and a 3" x 4" card with a half-circle embellishment housing the title. Creative Team member Maggie Massey is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's pocket page sketch! Be sure to follow Maggie to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Kelly Noel's 10 Years layout:

Our notebook sketch comes from Lisa Truesdell's Always Watching spread:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Jessica Upton's Week 18 of 2017 spread:

And here's Maggie's take on our pocket page sketch:

As soon as I saw the cards this week's Documenter Sketch was based on, I knew they would make an awesome notebook spread!

To go along with this month's "Expedition" Kits and the whole outdoors theme, I printed and adhered a large photo of my daughter in a canyon in one of our favorite parks into my notebook. Then I added a simple tag and sticker from the Scrapbook Kit to the upper right corner of the photo, following Jessica's design.

To create the right side of my spread, I cut a large circle from a sheet of patterned paper in the Scrapbook Kit and an "Enjoy the Journey" badge from another sheet of paper, also in the Scrapbook Kit. Then, I added a chipboard "K" (my daughter's name initial), some journaling strips, and a little phrase stamp to my larger circle to mimic the design on Jessica's card. A few little star stickers from the Planner Kit finish out my spread.

This is the first time I've added a full-page photo to one of my notebook spreads (I know, I know...where have I been?) and I LOVE the look! This is definitely something I'll do over and over. Thank you so much for the inspiration, Jessica! Now let's see what YOU can do with this week's sketches!

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by June 11th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the June 16th Layout of the Week post.

I loved Kelly's "10 Years" layout and stuck to the sketch pretty closely, except I used 3 photos: https://studiocalico.com/galleries/212462-3-moms

I used the SB Sketch to make this anniversary card for my son and daughter in law . I was inspired by the big numbers in KellyNoel ‘s layout. I wanted to mark their 5th year so it worked out great.
