Guest Designer | Heather Doolittle

We're thrilled to have the lovely and talented Heather Doolittle as one of our guest designers this month and are excited to get to know her better today! Be sure to follow Heather here at Studio Calico to keep up with her and see more of her beautiful work.

My name is Heather Doolittle (formerly Heather Adams- I recently got married last year) and I am a 22-year-old graphic designer from Troy, Ohio. I have been scrapbooking since 2009— my mom had bought some scrapbook supplies for my birthday a few years prior and I just decided to use them one day. I’ve been hooked ever since! It’s crazy how happy pretty paper can make me. I have been on design teams in the past such as Me & My BIG Ideas, The Cut Shoppe, and Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. I also currently design product collections with Pretty Little Studio (which I love!). I love making just about anything that involves paper. I feel like I’m a jack of all trades when it comes to paper crafting, although card making probably has my heart— I love sending sunshine to others! I am greatly inspired by Pinterest. I love making boards of all sorts to hold inspiration for when I’m stuck. Besides crafting, I love traveling with my handsome hubby, spending time with our families, and trying new things here and there- like scuba diving! My husband is a very adventurous person, so who knows what I will do in my lifetime!

Home *Main Kit*:  When I saw the stamp set that comes in the Gypsy Moon planner kit, I knew I wanted to make a little pattern with it. It’s just so stinkin’ cute! Since there was a home one and a work one, I decided to use the home one to stamp straight onto my traveler’s notebook page. The base paper in this particular notebook is a light pink grid design, so that helped in lining up the images when I got to the stamping. I used some second and third generation stamping to make some variation in the pattern. I absolutely LOVE the patterned paper that is included in the kit this month as well, so I used a whole page of that for the left side of my spread. Everything that I used on this spread is from the min Gypsy Moon planner kit— all of it is so amazing!

Live Laugh Love: For this traveler’s notebook spread, I used the main Gypsy Moon planner kit along with the Hunter add-on. I love the sticker sheet that is included in the add-on and I used several of the designs on this page. I love mixing textures on my projects, so I made sure to add different types of embellishments on this page. Overall, I used paper, stickers, stamps, and that big clear sticker from the main planner kit. That Live Laugh Love looks AMAZING as a title! I wish I had 10,000 of those clear stickers! Here’s a little secret: that banner on the top right page is covering up a place where I tore the paper from moving stickers around too much. I actually love how that flag looks, so hey— sometimes mistakes are serendipitous.

Love You: I totally fell in love with that leaf paper that is in the Gypsy Moon planner kit. I wanted to use all of the leaves in a fun way, so I cut several of them out and placed them to look like they’re falling down the right page. I added in some gold star stickers from the Hunter add-on and also used the acrylic leaf shapes in the add-on to STAMP on my spread. I simply held the acrylic leaf and dabbed it in some dye ink! So, so easy. The ink wiped off of the acrylic perfectly and now I have the actual embellishments to use again! I knew the design needed some grounding on the left page, so I took the navy with pink hearts patterned paper from the main kit and added a small strip to the left page to balance the color out. After that, I added my photos and embellishing! Super easy and simple!

Thanks for joining me!
