Documenter Kit Workshop - Neela Nalam

Neela is a mom to two boys, a wife, and an aunt to her cute little niece. Her boys and her niece are usually the subjects of her projects. Along with her family, she lives in sunny southern California. She has been a traditional layout scrapbooker for a long time. In the last year, has started making pocket page spreads and has been loving it. She works part time as an engineer and works on her scrapbook projects late at night. Scrapbooking is her favorite creative outlet.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

My favorite embellishments from the "Bookmarked" Documenter Kit are the rubber days of the week words. I love the colors. I also love all the colors and patterns of the cards.

What she'll be teaching:

In the workshop, I'll be making three very different pocket page spreads. For the first spread, I'll be using a series of photos taken within a few seconds of each other along with color-coordinating cards. For the second spread, I'll be using photos from a vacation and will be using the bright and colorful cards. We'll be thinking beyond the pocket by incorporating photos spanning pockets and hidden journaling. For the last spread, I'm going to let the kit drive the subject of the spread.

Takeaways:

Throughout the three lessons, you'll learn to incorporate pocket pages of different sizes and document different types of stories.

Neela will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Jen ChapinCandace Perkins, and Jen Wong. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome printable Neela will be using in this month's workshop:

Planner Kit Workshop - Marie Lottermoser

Marie is a wife and full-time mom living just outside of Seattle. She has two teenagers who keep her on her toes. Her love of scrapbooking has been passed down in her family through many generations starting with her great-grandmother. She inherited scrapbooks with photos over 100 years old which inspired her to document her own family's memories. She started out making traditional scrapbook layouts and has branched out to making planner pages and working with Traveler's Notebooks, often combining the two. In addition to playing with paper, she loves photography and reading. She is also a self-admitted coffee addict.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The things I love best about the "Bookmarked" Planner Kit are the enamel pin stickers (they are even more amazing in person!) and the tab sticky notes with the coordinating stamp set. We’ll be using the tab sticky notes to create customized dividers so you can easily flip to the right section of your planner.

What she'll be teaching:

In this workshop, we’ll go beyond calendar pages and make special themed pages. In the first lesson, we'll use the main Planner Kit to make a page for the books you’re reading this year. In the second lesson, we’ll use the exclusive class digital files to make a place in your planner for grocery shopping and meal planning. And in the third lesson, we’ll use a stamp set to make a page to track your favorite TV shows. The theme of every lesson can be changed to suit your own needs so your planner fits your lifestyle.

Takeaways:

By the end of this workshop, I want to inspire you to use your planner in many creative ways and motivate you to create different themed pages for your planner. And if a type of planner page doesn’t already exist, I want to show you how to create one for yourself. There should never be any limits to what to include in your planner!

Marie will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Haley PettitMaggie Massey, and Marivi Pazos. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome printable Marie will be using in this month's workshop:

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Laureen Wagener

Laureen is a self-proclaimed craft addict in her early twenties from Germany. She loves all things yellow, spray mists, and enamel dots. Patterned paper has her heart; she loves all the bright colors, fun patterns, and endless possibilities of how to use it! She is currently in school to become a physical therapist, so during the week, her time is mainly spent at school, on the train, or hooked at her desk learning anatomy. On the weekend, she likes to sit down and craft until she can’t see her bin or floor anymore. Her favorite projects to create are 12" x 12" scrapbook layouts as they offer a lot of space to be creative and try different styles and techniques. She's also a BIG fan of card making and stamping. She loves is photography and spending time with her family.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

How is it even possible to narrow down the list of things I love from this kit?! It was made for me! The colors, patterns, and embellishments are so awesome that it's hard to choose—but, if I really have to, I would go with these:

  • The floral patterned paper. Both sides of that paper are amazing. I mean, it's floral on the one side and yellow on the other side. Can a paper be anymore fitting and perfect?!
  • The enamel pins. I've never owned an embellishment like the enamel pins, so it was really fun to use something different. I love the different texture and material they add to a page.
  • Sequins and buttons. You can scatter them all over the page like little sprinkles, so they are basically candy. Do I need to say more?!

What she'll be teaching:

I thought it would be fun to create three completely different layouts that differ in style and technique to give you some variation and a favorite to chose from. I made use of my three favorite techniques: creating a quilted background using all the paper, using a cut file and fussy cutting, and using stamps while incorporating a little bit of hand stitching.

Takeaways:

Have fun! Please enjoy your crafty time. It's a time solely dedicated to you—a time you make in your day just for yourself. So you should have fun and enjoy it. Don’t force anything. If the shoe doesn’t fit, get a different one! The same goes for scrapbooking techniques. Techniques I absolutely adore may not work for you at all! Don’t get frustrated over that; maybe there's a little something you can take from it and change so that it perfectly fits your style of crafting.

Laureen will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Nathalie DeSousaRaquel Bowman, and Marcy Penner. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome cut file Laureen will be using in this month's workshop:
