Documenter Kit Workshop - Heba Alsibai

Heba is the mother of two teenagers and wife to her wonderful husband. She and her husband own a small medical supply company that keeps her husband traveling and her working from home. She loves that she can work from home because she gets to see her kids go off to school and welcome them home when they get back. She can also craft whenever she wants! She lives in the beautiful state of Georgia far from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. She's a total homebody that loves to read and watch reruns of Friends. But by far her favorite thing to do is share her projects on her YouTube channel and on Instagram. She believes that sharing is caring.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I love the label sticker sheet. The stickers are perfect to use as prompts for my journaling or just to add a little pop of color to a card. But by far my favorite product from this kit has to be the journaling cards. I'm a huge fan of Studio Calicos Documenter Kit cards. They are always so colorful and unique, and they always help me tell my story.

What she'll be teaching:

In my first lesson, I’m going to share how you can build your spread by choosing a limited amount of colors right from your journaling cards or your pictures. In the second lesson, we'll be focusing on our favorite picture and making it the focal point of our spread. In our third and final lesson, we'll be using our journaling cards not just for journaling but as embellishments.

Takeaways:

Documenting your story can be a lot of work. But I'll be sharing three different ways you can use one kit to tell your story. I always believe in "less Is more," and that’s what you'll learn in these lessons. You don’t need a lot of products to document your daily life.

Planner Kit Workshop - Leah O'Neil

Leah works full time as an engineer and project manager. At home, she's a Hufflepuff living in a quaint apartment with her Ravenclaw husband and spirited, chirping tuxedo cat, Minerva. She and her husband are both pop culture geeks. In addition to her already obvious love for Harry Potter, she also loves all things Firefly, Star Wars, and Doctor Who. She has a deep love for creating and loves finding new and exciting ways to express her creativity. She is very passionate about inspiring other creative spirits to dedicate time to nurturing and growing their creativity as well. One of her favorite creative hobbies is decorating her planners and notebooks which she uses to plan, organize, and document her life.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I absolutely love the theme of the "Hey Girl" Planner Kit. It’s all about making time for YOU and I believe we all need that reminder occasionally amidst our busy lives and endless responsibilities. I adore the notebook that comes with this kit. The patterned pages throughout are so vibrant and inspiring! What a fun way to plan, organize, or document your life, either by sticking the notebook into your traveler’s notebook or tucking it into your planner or purse. My number one favorite supply in the kit this month is the oversized gold paper clips. I’ve had large paper clips similar to these before, but I’ve always had the issue of them creasing my pages too much so I never really wanted to use them. These clips are magical because they are flexible and lightweight, so they don’t crease my pages at all and are super easy to slide on and off a page.

What she'll be teaching:

In the Hey Girl Planner Kit Workshop, I’ll be teaching some fun and versatile ways to use the notebook that came with the kit. We’ll be creating a monthly dashboard, a to-do list, and a pocket for holding some of your stickers for on-the-go planning. I’ll also show you how to easily create a more structured planner spread on a blank page by using some packaging in a less conventional way.

Takeaways:

Throughout this workshop, I hope subscribers will learn: just how useful and versatile the supplies from the Planner Kits can be, right down to the packaging that I never like to throw away; fun ways to incorporate photos into a planner or traveler’s notebook, either just for fun or inspiration, or to document a new memory; how to add dimension to your planner or notebook pages without adding too much bulk.

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Anna Komenda

Anna lives in Poland in a small town near Warsaw with her husband, two daughters, and a beagle dog named Pirat. She's a geologist, but currently, she leads a happy life as a mom and scrapbooker. Her adventure with paper began nine years ago after the birth of her first daughter. It was the first time in her life when she felt that all those cute baby pictures were meant to be in albums and not just on the hard drive. She started searching online for ways to create nice albums and that's how she found scrapbooking. It was love at first sight. After so many years, her shelves are filled with beautiful albums that hold her most precious memories. Her friends call her a color whisperer because she usually creates very colorful designs. She loves creating layouts and mini albums. She's also a member of several design teams. She teaches live classes in Poland from time to time, and she publishes a lot of process videos on her YouTube channel. You can find her on Instagram—it's her favorite social media channel.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

When my kit arrives, I open the envelope ASAP. I love the plastic pouch that it comes in. It makes storing the kits so easy. The first thing that drew my attention in the May kit was the stripy, rainbow paper. I was sure it will end up on one of the pages. I also loved the set of vellum numbers. They are so colorful and versatile and BIG. Puffy stickers of all kinds are also my faves regardless of the collection. I collect them. :) That’s why I was so happy seeing the set of puffy stickers in the May kit.

What she'll be teaching:

I prepared three lessons for you using the "Hey Girl" Kit. In the first one, we'll create a unique background using vellum numbers and a lot of fussy cutting. The second lesson is all about staying monochromatic (with only a little pinch of color because I'm a color addict). In contrast to black and white project from lesson two, we'll dive into the rainbow and create a very colorful project in the third lesson. We'll get our fingers dirty by adding some color using watercolors.

Takeaways:

This class is all about colors and being brave using them. We'll step out of our control zones by connecting all the colors in one page. I'll also show you creative ways of using your embellishments, like the vellum numbers; they can be a great addition to your pages without giving them any meaning. Just make them a part of your background or use them as a layer behind your photo. You don’t know how to work with transparent stickers? Do they get lost in the composition? I got it covered in another one of my lessons. And in the end, it’s all about having fun. This is always the most important thing I tell my students. You don’t need fancy tools and techniques; just sit, create, and be joyful and happy while making your own art.

Anna will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Phoebe WuKelly Noel, and Lisa Truesdell. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome cut file Anna will be using in this month's workshop:
